As I'm sure everyone is now aware, RuneLite has started publishing pricing information from their client via the OSRS Wiki. Understandably, we have already received many questions about when this will be integrated into GE Tracker.
GE Tracker over the years has been tightly coupled to OSBuddy pricing, so the integration isn't quite as simple as "swap the pricing over". This is because there are many changes we have wanted to make over the years to our data storage but never saw the benefit as we were not receiving near realtime data, and the hours spent would not bring any benefit. However, that is no longer the case, and I am glad to say that we have provisioned new database servers which will enable us to bring some really great features to everyone!
We will be implementing RuneLite pricing very shortly, and we have already begun tracking the data in the background whilst we work on the other tasks. We will likely roll the integration out in several updates over the next week, starting with our graphs.
We will implement the new pricing in the following stages:
-
Provision new servers and start tracking data. We wanted to have this completed as soon as possible so that we did not miss any data.
-
Update our graphs to display the RuneLite pricing separately from OSBuddy. We think this will have the biggest immediate benefit to you all as you'll be able to see more accurate historical data for any given item. We are considering alterations to the intervals on the graphs (i.e. 1hr, 3hr, 1d), but will initially launch with 1h intervals for the week and month durations.
-
Update our item pricing to include the RuneLite real-time prices. This will make all lists (i.e. Highest Margins) on the website both faster to update and more accurate.
-
Add additional graphing features that we have had planned for a long time, but we did not have the supporting real-time data to be advantageous.
Overall, it is going to be a busy few days for everyone. And no, flipping is not dead.
